A sign of Spring

My dear H gave me these tulips for Valentines Day, They just seem to say Spring to me. I also got a small box of white chocolate truffles from Sarah's Candy Cottage, they make the best candy locally. They are really good.

I found this online weaving magazine for any of you weavers out there. It really is nice, lots of good stuff to look at.

I got my One World One Heart gift all packaged up and ready to go. I'll get it in Mondays mail. I have to admit I am glad that its over with this time. The volume of participants made it a lot more work than last time. I didn't enter anywhere near the number of drawings, it started taking up too much of my time. Congrats to all the lucky winners.

I have another round robin book to work on. This one has a theme of texture so I think I will try some new things. My first page I am laying down masking tape and then gesso and paint and who knows what else. I want to try to push myself with something new this time.

I signed up for Paulette Insall's painting faces class. I have to wait till March 31 now. That is when it starts. I took an online class with Kathy Johnson on watercolor painting and it really was awesome so I hope this one will be the same caliber.

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. I hope you have a day full of love laughter and a little bit of chocolate.

I won't be posting my One World One Heart Give away until this evening so you still have time to enter. I am going to use the random number generator to pick the name due to the amount of participants this year. So check back here later for the winners name.

Three and half hour lunch

I met my friend Kate for lunch this afternoon. We hadn't seen each other in eight months so we ended up talking about everything it was a nice relaxing time. We were at Chili's and after eating we decided on dessert.














This is the cutest dessert ever. I felt like we were in Paris eating in an oudoor cafe. These dishes are tall shot glasses. The dessert had a brownie in the bottom with layers of custard chocolate and cream, yummy. The waiter kept coming back to see if we wanted more drinks or anything else. He once said he couldn't believe we were still there. It should have dawned on me then but I never realized how long we had been there until I looked at the time. We had been there more than 3.5 hours... The longest lunch I have ever had.

After two tries Fed Ex finally delivered a package to my house. They lost it the first time and I had to have the company send me a new one. I have a set of 100 markers now, I love all the colors.

Another Blog

There is a lot a talk about the book The New Earth and the Oprah class on it coming up in March. I started a another blog at the request of a friend to have a discussion about the book. If you are reading it and taking the class and want a smaller forum for discussion send me an email and I will invite you to our blog. There is a forum also on Oprah.com but with 170,000 people signed up that is a little overwhelming. This is much smaller and more intimate. So join us if you like.

The sun came out today

The Sun was out today and we had a beautiful blue sky. What a treat that was. Everything in town is melting so there is water everywhere. That will soon end as we have another chance for snow coming soon. In case anyone is interested the Spaghetti Sauce came out wonderful.

A day in the life

My friend Cindy challenged me to show a day in my life. I don't think its that interesting but here goes.














First thing this morning I turned on the computer and checked my mail. With all the One World One Heart Mail I really need to keep on top of it.













I say good morning to my ever faithful dog Flynn.














I stop and take a load of laundry out of the dryer and put more clothes in there so I have something to wear to church.














Then I hop into the shower, all you get to see are my lovely feet....













I look outside and see yes there is still a ton of snow out there.













Time for breakfast, I eating lite since I know there is a potluck at church. Here are the ingredients for my smoothie. Skim milk, a banana and some blueberries.













...And the result hmmm it tasted as yummy as it looks.












Here is what I am taking to the potluck, rhubarb cobbler.













When I get outside the snow is all frosty and looks so pretty.














After church I come back home and get this new bookshelf all put together. Its for my blue and white bedroom.













Then the lack of sleep last night gets to me and I lie down to take a little nap on the couch.













Dave thinks it would be funny to put Flynn's toy on me.. Ha ha.













After a little rest I get up and start making my world famous spaghetti sauce, well not really but I think it tastes pretty awesome. These are my new pans, they look great don't they.













Here is the start of the sauce. I will mix it up in this stock pot and then put it in 2 crock pots to cook overnight. If I cook on the stove I really have to watch it so it doesn't burn, It really is easier in a crock pot but they don't make a crock pot big enough so I use two of them













Then later I spend time watching this, the music has been great. Can someone tell me why Tina Turner never ages.














I also am multitasking by entering some of the many contests for One World One heart. I finish my day making this very long entry.

Painting Faces

For any of you who are interested in learning to paint faces there is an online class to start soon. Paulette Insall is offering a series of 2 classes, one on backgrounds and one on painting faces. Check out her blog for more details. I am going to take the second class since I know how to do backgrounds already. If this is something you have wanted to learn here is a perfect chance.

I've been in a funk the past couple days. After seeing the Oprah segment on clutter I am back trying to weed things out and streamline my life. Organizing for a mixed media artist is so hard cause you want to keep everything but learning how to manage it all can become a nightmare. I will plod on though and see if I can make any progress.

I signed up to do the Oprah online class with the book The New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. She is doing a 10 week online class along with the author. You can sign up at Oprah.com I have started reading the book and it really is incredible. I think the class will be life changing as well. Class starts March 3 but they recommend that you read the book before that. My womens book group is going to do it together.

About all the creativity I have been doing is in organizing and cleaning. I haven't tied up the loom so I haven't gotten to any weaving either. Maybe its time to pull out my journal and play...

Snow Squall

My friend Kai asked how much snow we had. Well today we have wind which means nasty conditions and road closures. I canceled the 2 appointments that I had this afternoon since there might be a good chance I could not make it home. Here are some shots of the snow.

Stopping Time in New York City

A friend sent this, its a great prank played out in New York City, fun to watch

Weaving, Stuck in the Snow,

I'll start with weaving so at least I have some pretty pictures up here. I finished warping the loom last night. The tie up on a Countermarche loom is always the hardest part so I will be spending this afternoon working on that.

We got another 5" of snow last night. It just doesn't seem to stop this year. i made a little movie of the snow on Monday but when I publish it the color does some weird thing so I won't post it.

Last night I was going to town to attend the Democratic Caucus when there was a car stopped in the front of me so I tried to slow down hit a patch of ice and traveled to the left across the road and then did a 360 and ended up in a snowbank going the other direction. I was deep in all the way to my back wheels before I stopped. Some good Samaritans pulled me out. They were really awesome. It took 2 different vehicles but when the woman with th big SUV came she had enough power to pull me out.

I managed to get to the caucus and had a blast. They expected about 400 people to show up and there were almost 1000 people. it was one big party and I had a blast. Most of the time we were just waiting around for the roll call and other things but here's a short clip of my friends and the crowd. It was really great to see that many people participating in the process.



Also found out that PJ
gave me the Make my Day award. This is the fourth time I have gotten this and that tells me I must be doing something right. What a nice treat that was. I sent it off to 10 people the first time and really didn't mention it the other so perhaps I should give it out again. I'll do that in tomorrows post.

What IS ONE World-ONE Heart?

It is the lovely idea of Lisa Oceandreamer. It is a blog-wide giveaway event. The original idea behind this was to bring bloggers together from around the world who may never ordinarily meet. It closes the gap of the blog community and enables us to interact, discover new and wonderful people, and in the process possibly win a prize or many prizes along the way. Last years event had nearly 100 participants and many connections were made because of it......friendships that are still going strong. (from ONE World-ONE Heart site)

100 day challenge on Oprah

First the big news in that the 100 day challenge will be part of a show on the Secret on Oprah this coming Wednesday. They used some video's from participants and no I am not one of them. The show should be really good.


Some Art

Here are my pages from the round robin book I have been working on. The theme was words and art. Easy and then not so easy. This is what I did.


























































































I started working on my One World One Heart project today. I hope to have pictures up tomorrow.

I got an early birthday present. A 10 piece cookware set its Emerilware by All Clad which is a really good brand, even if it has Emeril's name on it. its stainless so I need to learn how to cook in stainless cookware again but I like it.

This is something I put on a vision board a year ago. Its time I did a new board because I have manifested most of the things I put on it. i was going to get some Calphalon which is a lot more expensive but I am happy with my choice. I got some really good paring knives too. Its great to have some good equipment to cook with.

New Month New Beginnings

Its a new month full of new beginnings. Some of you know I participate in the 100 Day reality challenge on Youtube. Well a few days ago I finished the challenge. It was extremely rewarding and I saw many things manifest for me. I decided to do a season 2 which I am starting today.

For season 2 these are my goals:

To work on my book about my Grandparents: this will include finishing scanning their letters, organizing materials, seek out grants or other funding to help finance the travel I need to do on this project. Start planning what those trips need to be and who I need to be connecting with. Explore the idea of a possible documentary.

To continue to work on self care which will include Yoga, Meditation and changing my eating patterns and continue to work on my personal relationships.

To work on improving my artistic skills, mainly painting. I really want to paint faces. I will make some journals and finally master the art of transfers.

I want to get back to weaving, I will finish the triangle shawl and weave Dave's blanket and work on the dishtowels already on the loom.

I think thats plenty to be working on.

I have a slew of things almost finished. I almost have the warp wound for the blanket. I almost have the pages for the round robin book done. Now I need to come up with an idea for One World One Heart. If I hadn't been sick the last 2 weeks I would have had something done by now. I hope to have something up in the next couple days.
