I was feeling pretty down and depressed today so what's a girl to do. Well Art of course.

Samantha Kira did a post on this prompt "I should" so I decided to do one too. I started out trying to make a lovely gold background but there was green paint on the credit card I used to paint with so I had a mess. So I just left it and worked around it. The second page I tried again but instead of nickel azo gold I picked up burnt sienna. I guess there is no way I was going to make a gold page today.

I took myself to lunch to cheer myself up. There is a Mexican place in town where I can eat for under $5.00 so that's where I went. After my meal I drew this. I recently bought a couple Derwent graphic pencils and really like them.

Then in the afternoon I was playing around while watching TV and drew this lady with the half face. She was fun.

I hope you had some time today to do a little Art for your peace of mind.

I really like that half face. She's beautiful. There's something so interesting about just seeing part of a face.

Even though you didn't get a gold page I love the ones you did. And you just went with it so that's the good thing.

Hey, I like your top pages. Even if they don't satisfy you they speak to someone. I love the colors.

I, too, treated myself to lunch today, at Johnny Carino's (don't know if you have it there - Italian). I am trying to do a bit of drawing but forgot my new, untouched moleskine so I drew on the bread bag! A giant pepper grinder, two baskets and a bottle of oil appeared. I am quite proud of myself.

your pages look grreat, girl. Sometimes I use metallic paints to splatter on top..maybe you clould do that with gold! They are wonderful the way they are though. Glad you treated yourself..I did that on Sunday! ps: I called my Mom yesterday! pps: I thought about you..I walked past the Phoebe Pember House yesterday!

Really nice work Kate! I use Derwent sketchers too and I love them. If you are going to continue sketching with pencil, maybe you could get yourself a Derwent Dark Wash 8B. You will love the shading you can do with it. Just a touch and then smear with your finger. And if you use a kneadable eraser, you can "lift" the graphite off to make highlights. Your sketching is great!

Enjoyed reading about your progress of this day. Your journal page and drawing of the face is great. I really like how you used music paper on the journal you made. I was thinking about that book (how to think like LV) I'd love to hear about more exercises that is presents!
