Drawing Practice

Yesterday I got a book out of the library on drawing faces. I have been trying this on my own with little success. I used a 2b pencil in my small molesine. These at least now resemble body parts. I will keep practicing, I see this as a challenge that I really want to master. We'll see how I am a year from now.

Great bits of faces, always the hard parts. I love reading your blog, so many different things you do, a bit like mine. I love both of Gwen Dhein's books, the first one went everywhere with me when I started journalling and the second one is as good.

great effort - keep practising and you will be more comfortable with facial features very soon.

Very good! You even got the thickness of the lids on the eyes -- which most people starting out with facial features ignore. Great job! :-)

Isn't it so difficult to draw noses???? I always had problems with teeth. An artist friend of mine said to me when i shared my difficulty: "well, then don't draw it. Draw around the teeth." I didn't understand what he meant until I tried it. instead of trying to draw each individual tooth, I sahded the other parts of the mouth and lo and behold, it looked as if teeth had appeared.

Thats great advice about the teeth. I will try and remember that.
